About Xiah Junsu’s Recent Tweets

JYJ Xiah Junsu’s recent series of ambiguous tweets have alarmed fans, as they may have been directed at TVXQ’s leader Yunho.

On December 6th, Xiah Junsu wrote on his Twitter, “Until now, I kept believing that it wasn’t true, I believed that (it) was the enemy of all five of us, but I guess it wasn’t really the enemy of all. To see that (they) expressed their gratitude to something I thought was both our enemies.. I guess a lot of things happened in the time we weren’t together. This is so tiring.” Continue reading

[JYJ World Tour] JYJ brings down the house in New York City!

They’ve become musical gods in Korea, broken records in Japan, vacationed in Paris, and toured China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan. Their foray into the global market was launched last month with the debut album “The Beginning“, which surpassed the half million mark in pre-orders with the luxury edition easily selling out in less than a week. So it should come as no surprise that the ever-grandeur Hammerstein Ballroom was bursting at the seams tonight as JYJ took the stage in the heart of New York City, launching the JYJ World Tour, their first American showcase tour in front of 3,400 ecstatic fans.

Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu are no strangers when it comes to pleasing a crowd; after all, they’ve been on the music scene for over seven years and have been part of seven tours. And it’s definitely paid off – the turnout for JYJ’s first flesh-and-blood appearance in New York City was overwhelming. It would be an understatement to label the wait outside of the venue to simply be a “line around the block.” Imagine a crowd of human sardines that takes up ten feet of sidewalk in width, barricaded by metal fences on the verge of tipping over in certain places. Extend that image by a few avenue blocks and you get the idea. Some hardcore Cassiopeians reportedly camped out the night before (they were eventually turned away… then eventually returned around 6AM); others traveled from all over the East Coast just to see these three stars in person. And hello, after the hack job by Tinsel PR and Entitled Entertainment, the concert became free and “first come first serve” – who could pass up an opportunity like that?

Unfortunately, the venue reached its maximum capacity before the entire line was let in, so many disappointed fans were left in the cold and turned away at the entrance. Those that were lucky enough to get in began to flood the floor and balcony levels as fans scrambled to get a good view of the stage. With a vibrant pink pattern titillating on the LCD screen onstage, excited chatter mixed with a chorus of Cassiopeians singing along to the background hum of “Ayyy Girl” as the stage crew played with light and sound tests. Finally, the lights clicked on and MC Shane Yoon dramatically introduced the show, only to be humorously interrupted by fellow MC Julie Chang who got the show officially started. allkpop had previously reported that Arden Cho would be the female MC for the show, but the earlier disorganization and mess caused her to miss the New York stop, though she will apparently be at the Las Vegas and Los Angeles shows. Anyway, with no opening acts to prolong the wait, fans were immediately quenched with the live spectacle of three drippingly sexy Korean men slowly rising out of the stage floor onto elevated platforms. Cue the deafening screams of fangirls in blissful vertigo.

With the extreme levels of energy pulsating within the ballroom, “Empty” was the perfect song to kick-start the show: the boys casually walked down the steps from the platform to the slow beginning and suddenly came to life with fast-paced choreography as the percussion beat thrummed from the speakers into the crowd. A few arm pumps and mesmerizing pelvic thrusts later, the music transitioned into the fun, electro-dance beat of “Be The One“, with fanchants ringing loud and clear from beginning to end. I absolutely love the heavy, robotic dance moves that come in after the first chorus, and getting to see it live unquestionably amplified the sex factor tenfold. As the song came to an end, the fog machines at the base of the stage began to pump their goods toward the crowd, casting a complete veil over our vision. While the haze might’ve produced a cool effect for the audience, I couldn’t see anyone around me or even the stage which was less than a foot away from my eyes for the next few minutes. From what I could tell though, the young men had taken their positions with mic stands near the front of the stage. Their voices pierced the fog, so to speak, with the third song of the night, “Be My Girl“, a slow-paced track composed by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. It was nice to see both JYJ’s sexy and sensitive sides in the span of ten minutes!

With half the show already over, the MCs returned to the stage for a special Q&A session with the trio based on questions drawn from the audience before the show. Shane and Julie first began by talking about the sheer volume and power of Cassiopeians around the world. “On Twitter, you guys have been crazy. Who reads allkpop?” Shane asked and, amidst cheers, continued, “allkpop put my Twitter account on their site, and I started getting JYJ-Twitter-bombed, and it was crazy. You guys are crazy!“ After each member adorably introduced himself in a few sparse English words, the MCs got straight to the questions. JYJ has spent the past few days in the Big Apple, and it seems like they’re loving it; when asked what their favorite aspects of NYC were, Junsu admired the endless skyline of buildings, Jaejoong said he favored being on stage performing for their fans, and Yoochun was in awe of the number of taxis in the city. At one point, Yoochun recited a few lines of traditional Korean from his latest drama, “SungKyunKwan Scandal.” Another fan asked whether the members read all the tweets posted to them on Twitter. Yoochun estimated that he read around 50% of his Twitter replies, and Junsu said, “I won’t lie and say I’ve read all of them, but I really do try.

After the break, the stools were briskly whisked away and the threesome performed a Korean song from Yoochun’s drama “SungKyunKwan Scandal” titled “Chajatta (Found)”, an optimistic track about someone finally meeting the love of his life. JYJ returned to the pop ambiance afterwards with their big Kanye West collab track “Ayyy Girl”; just as they did earlier that night, the audience sang along to the lyrics, word for word. Finally, JYJ wrapped up the night with a remixed version of “Empty”, which added a layer of electronica pop to the original track. With the members shouting at the audience to jump, it felt like the entire venue was experiencing a mini earthquake. As the song climaxed and neared its end, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu stepped back onto the platform they started on and disappeared for a dramatic close to the night.

White confetti cannons exploded into the air and the ”Ayyy Girl” music video was broadcast on the LCD screen as if to console any members of the audience who were already experiencing JYJ withdrawal symptoms. Dazed fans filtered out of the entrance doors, with little cliques dotting the lobby as friends took final photos together and others reminisced about the highlights of the concert. Many fans also ended up lingering in the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of the trio leaving the venue for their hotel which was located just down the block.

This was my first time seeing JYJ perform live, and the trio ultimately lived up to the hype that they’ve constructed over the past seven years. One of the keys to TVXQ’s international success lay in the members’ exceptional vocal ability, and it was delightful to discover firsthand that they were just as talented live as in studio. Furthermore, the members put on a great show despite the logistical mess that has recently plagued the tour.

Later this week, JYJ’s schedule includes two more tour stops in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. For those of you that are planning to attend, you’re in for a hell of a concert!

[RANDOM] Xiah Junsu’s Interview – PATI PATI March 2010 Issue – Tohoshinki PATI PATI BEST SELECTION (Part 1&2)

  • PP: In the lyrics of [My Destiny], there’s one line that goes “Even if I’m reborn again…” If you had a chance to be reborn again, what do you want to be?

Junsu: A soccer player. Because I love singing, so I eventually became a singer, but before that, I dreamed about becoming a soccer player. Even now, as long as there’s time, I’ll play soccer.
Yuchun: I don’t want to be reborn again. But whatever the case, I wish I can be born somewhere else aside from Earth and I want a body free from allergies (laugh).
Junsu: Yuchun really loves dogs but he’s really pitiful as he can’t keep them due to his allergies.

PP: What do you guys think? Just like in the drama, when the wedding has reached its climax and the church doors open to reveal her ex-lover… I feel like he would hold her hand and walk away… Like that, don’t you feel like experiencing that?
Junsu: Then I’ll become the third party (laugh).

PP: Ah, Junsu, you’ve done it again! (laugh) (Like the boy that cried wolf)
Junsu: What are you saying? I definitely won’t do something like that! If I want to do it, I’ll create trouble during your honeymoon (laugh).

PP: You started the year with [Purple Line] and I heard that this song is by the same composer for the songs [Rising Sun] and [O] which are both very popular during concerts.
Junsu: Yes, but the style is different from [Rising Sun]. That is to say, this song is not really Tohoshinki’s usual style.
Junsu: To be honest, after the firs recording, in order to have a higher level of perfection, they let us record it again.
Junsu: The way we vocalised also changed. So the final result was very different.

PP: So, it’s disheartening right from the beginning of the year. Are the oyaji gags from Junsu, which healed these 4 people, finally coming to an end?
Junsu: (cracks an oyaji gag)
Junsu: Then, “If you keep eating a little, how much is a little?” (another oyaji gag)

PP: Do you want a son or daughter?
Junsu: I want 2 sons and I think one daughter would be best.

PP: And the order of birth?
Junsu: First I’ll have a son, followed by another son. After that I’ll have a daughter. But if I haven’t become an adult by then, then I can’t do this (laugh).

PP: The lyrics talk about a guy who fell in love with his friend’s girlfriend. When you saw the lyrics, did you see any similarities with yourself?
Junsu: Yes. Although I’ve not experienced it, but I can more or less understand how the lead feels.

PP: Even though you secretly love her, you can’t confess.
Junsu: It’s really hard.

PP: Jejung seems to be an expert in relationships.
Junsu: He’s really just saying (laugh).

SPECIAL SELECTION OFINTERVIEWS! 2005 >>> 2010 (only post related to junsu)

(Because Tomorrow Will Come) PP: As expected, you’re really candid (laugh). Up until now, your fans seem to be increasing and it seems like Japan has caught the Tohoshinki fever.
Junsu: Ah… it’s still too early to say. We still need to work harder.

(Sky) Junsu: When we were rushing to complete our schedules everyone was so tired they fell asleep and only Yunho was left who felt so energized. Also, just before the airplane lifted off, he even asked for a drink. After this, there were a few occassions when I wanted to swop with him.
Yuchun: But in the recording studio, Junsu becomes a free-spirited person too (laugh).
Junsu: Eh??
Jejung: He’s like a lion, standing on a chair and singing (laugh).
Junsu: This… It’s easier to sing the high notes when I’m standing on a chair. But I definitely won’t do this for the recording this time round, so don’t worry! (laugh)

(Lovin You) PP: What a tragic end. So it’s impossible to meet the girl again.
Junsu: I really like this part.

(Rising Sun) PP: When I first heard [Rising Sun], the memory of the 5 members’ gentle harmony was completely blown away. It was manly and explosive.
Junsu: This song is the title song for our 2nd Korean album and it’s very popular in Korea. But from among our Japanese singles, it’s something that we never had before with very strong dance moves so we were very nervous.

(Summer Dream) PP: Jejung looked really thirsty from the way he drank the water.
Junsu: I think it looks like his saliva is flowing out (laugh).
Junsu: Changmin tried to object against the director for the scene where he drinks from the tap. I want that kind of scene! (laugh)

PP: No. Even if there’s a member that objects to the director, it won’t be Changmin (laugh).
Junsu: Didn’t you know that recently Changmin has become very hardheaded? It’s super scary (laugh).

(Bolero) Junsu: Oh really? This is special songs. (with a weird English accent)
Junsu: Polaris bright…
Junsu: Oh my god! (all burst out laughing)

(Begin) PP: The lyrics also have this. Is there anything that you want to bid farewell to right now?
Junsu: The memory of me losing to Changmin during a game last night (laugh). I’ve never lost before so I’m really surprised that he became so good so quickly.
Yunho: Also, I have a wish regarding Junsu. Please say goodbye to your habit of eating quickly.
Junsu: That’s very difficult… From last time, I’ve never been able to take my time and savour it (laugh).
Junsu: In school, even if it’s just an extra minute to play soccer, I wanted to get it so I developed the habit of eating quickly. Instead of eating, it’s more like I drink it down (laugh).

Please encourage him together by telling him to continue it because it

Because I wanted a daughter, possibly I may tolerant it rather smoothly?

Xiah Junsu Dishes on His Upcoming Musical

Xiah Junsu is the first ever idol to prepare a musical concert with his own name headlining it.

Perhaps such is the reason why he’s working harder than ever preparing for his four day musical, set to begin on October 7th. Junsu will be working alongside musical stars such as Seo Bumseok, Min Young Ki, Shin Young Sook, and others.

Already having received the rookie award for “Mozart!” at the Musical Awards, Junsu became widely known for his strong concentration skills and the amount of effort he puts into his rehearsals.

In a recent meeting at his rehearsal hall, Junsu met with reporters and honestly confessed his thoughts regarding his first ever self named concert.

Thank you for your interest. The pressure of being alone is bigger than ever, being the first concert under my name. This performance was only possible with the support of the director and producers. We’ve aready been rehearsing together for three months now so the level of synchronization with the other actors is as great as ever. We’re all working hard and I believe that we’ll be able to show everyone a great concert.”

The concert seats a 10,000 member audience and began production last May.

I released a single in Japan in May and this will be the first time I’m performing one of the songs in Korea. The song holds a message of my feelings for my fans.” Junsu’s “Intoxication” is considered one of the highlights of his musical, being the first ever performance in Korea.

Co-producer Yoo Heesung revealed, “‘Mozart!’ was sold out in February and was successfully completed. Junsu’s concert will be like a galla in style where the actors will be able to connect with the audience more as opposed to singing a few songs and going off stage. Levay also fell in love with Kim Junsu’s performance after watching him and has expressed that he would love to produce songs together. He also said that he will be writing a song specifically for Kim Junsu.”

Sylvester Levay is a world famous composer, also having worked on “Mozart!” alongside playwright Michael Kunze.

One member of the musical revealed, “Kim Junsu never misses a day of rehearsal. None of us anticipated too much since he is a famous idol star but he has exceeded all of our expectations. He works very hard.

With so much effort being put into his musical, what meaning does it hold to him? Junsu replied, “A musical is a medium that gives me bravery and strength. It’s not just a stage that allows me to sing and act. It’s not something that I can just lightly accomplish, but rather something that I want to consistently work on into my future.”

The interview concluded with a question on TVXQ and whether he kept in contact with the members. Junsu simply replied, “Each individual member is working hard on his activities. Just watching each other work feels like support in itself.
